lets get it on:

amc: turning around slowly. a stop at 2.1 will bring a small loss only or wait for it to close above the 25 avg at 2.18

ascon: 75 avg at 5.9 sup./stop

ever: april downtrend still unbroken

gbx: sup at 1.5 or 1.42

jas: still good entry point for lt.

lst: triangle outbreak, sup. 2.24-2.4

mdx: bullish triangle with sup.3.84 and res. around 4.3

mida: downres. and 25 avg nearly broken, needs to stay above 0.83 at closing

mme: possibly will continue the upswing to 2.5-2.7, raise lpp to 2.18-2.2 (25 avg)

pe: is the 75 avg sup. or resistance?

s2y: reached 200 avg which is strong resistance and should have the 125 avg as support and lpp (2.2)

sam: res. 25 avg at 2.14

solar: now at 125 and 200 avg, if broken will be bullish

syntec: lpp = 25 avg at 0.83

tmb: can it stay above 25 avg?

tyong: needs to be strong to stay above november uptrend

Zorro, I have a question about your comment on MME. I am not sure if it is appropriate for me to ask questions here or should I ask them somewhere else?

You stated that "mme: possibly will continue the upswing to 2.5-2.7, raise lpp to 2.18-2.2 (25 avg)"

I do not understand your comment about raising the LPP to 2.18 to 2.2. The reason I don't understand is because the closing price of MME on Dec 27th was 2.22, which is already above your recommended LPP. LPP is the point where you lock in your profit, as I understand. But how does that apply in this situation where the price of the stock is already above the LPP that you state?

I am sure I am missing something so I felt I needed to ask you as soon as possible. Also, if MME did continue the upswing to say 2.7, how does your recommended LPP of 2.18-2.2 apply?

As I say, sorry if this is not the place to ask questions like this. I am just trying to learn your terminology so I can use this website better.

Cheers,
TJ

PTTAR : Tomorrow should be the first day of the trading. My broker said the price should be around 40-50.

Seeing that the PTT family shares are all above 100, do you have any advice on PTTAR?

lpp is not the point where one should sell the stock to take profit because it seems to have a resistance there but the point to take profit because if it is broken downward the stock might not continue the upswing.

example:
i recommended mme on the 19th of december when it was at 1.95.
on the 26 the stock went up as expected and at this time i tried to predict the movement of the stock for the next days or weeks.
it looked like that the 25 day avg was likely to be a resistance for this stock (not every stock has a resistance or support at the 25 avg).
as the volume was a bit weak it was likely that it would fail to go further, so i recommended profittaking in case the stock would reach the 25 avg at 2.2 to cash in on a quick 10% gain.
the next day mme had a strong intraday run and broke the 25 avg which is a good sign. the stocks with a similar pattern tend to go further up, usually to the 75 avg and if they encounter a resistance there, they usually have a correction but find support at the 25 avg.

so now the 25 avg is like a support for mme, or it is a point where the outlook would be bearish if it gets broken down. people who didn't buy on my recommendation could now enter and use the 25 avg as stoploss and those that have it already, should sell if it breaks again below the 25 avg. as they made already a profit, we call this lpp and not stoploss, because those traders will have a profit and not a loss.

look now at a chart of sam: when i recommended it, it was well below the 25 avg and trading sideways after a strong selloff.
i recommended it and after a few days it had a run and came close to the 25 avg.
the next day and the day after it still couldn't break it, so for short term trader it is advised to take profit and buy back later (either when it looks like the stock found a support again or after it can take out the 25 avg.
longterm traders might now set a lpp for sam and keep on holding it. they should set the lpp higher than their entry price, so they will for sure have a profit on the trade.

To TJ,

LPP is always lower than the high price in a trading day. LPP is to make sure your earning stock won't turn into a losing stock. It is a protection for you to take the profit before the market makers take them back again by smashing the price down (lower than your entry price).

What you understand is probably the "target price". A target price is a price which you hope it can reach in future, maybe in several days, or several months.

zeizhin,

I do not have any info about PTTAR. My advice is: if you play it, glue your eyes on the screen and set tight stop and use small position. First day of a new stock is a gamble except you have reliable inside info. Even you have reliable info, you still have to use tight stop.

At Wednesday, January 02, 2008 8:18:00 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

most of the new stocks open high on their first trading day and fall during the day. many times the second day is weak as well, then follows a bit of sideways trading where it is a good point to enter before an uprend develops.

At Wednesday, January 02, 2008 1:44:00 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

thanks, zorro. so for someone who had never before purchased MME, your raise lpp means set stop, right?

At Wednesday, January 02, 2008 2:16:00 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

correct, tj, also sometimes we will say "stop" instead of "lpp" depends on if we remember whether we recommended an entry earlier or not (sometimes we recommend to "watch" a certain stock and leave it to the individual to decide if they want to enter already or wait for a breakout, as some players are watching the market ever minute during opening hours while others check it every day only and might miss an intraday run).

the meaning overall is pretty much similar, but one should not assume that if we mention a lpp that this would be a good entry point. when the stock is still low, the lpp might be a support and could be still worth to buy but when the stock reached already a good gain and approaches a major resistance, the lpp is only to be regarded as a number to sell your holding when it is breached down.
also it depends on whether someone invests short or long term. a breach of the lpp might be a good point to sell for a st-player while it is still worth to hold on for long term.

some more info: the given advise on stops or lpp should be taken with a bit flexibility.
when a stock did not breach 0.87 three days in a row and we suggest to enter with a stop of 0.87 it can happen that the stock closes at 0.86 while there where no sell orders for 0.87. many times the next day the stock is back at 0.87 or above, so one needs to make an individual decision whether to apply the exact number or not.

MME closed at 2.18, which appears to be its 25day av. support level. This is also the stop/lpp that zorro mentioned. What are your thoughts on this now?

My trading account will be ready to go this Friday. So before then, I am just looking around and learning.

mme: retracted a bit along with the overall sentiment but on low volume, 25 avg should be at 2.18 tomorrow when there could be the decision to take profit if it closes in the red (or maybe one need to sell when it is trading in the red during intraday).

most of the stocks from my selection could hold up well, like:

sam: which i hope will challenge the 25 avg around 2.1 tomorrow and bring us a nice surprise. lpp should be around 1.97

solar: boke all averages, watch out for a possible horizontal resistance in the area of 3.5

tgpro: i warned that the time would be risky to enter (26th of december). it fell below the 25 avg again on the last trading day of 2007, went down further today to close at the same price when we wrote about it and looks like going down further.

At Wednesday, January 02, 2008 8:26:00 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

sam: just saw it is also recommended by the techie from seamico for tomorrow with a support of 1.8-2.0 and resistance 2.8-3.0

ever: is on their list as well for tomorrow with support 1.7-1.8 and res. 2.4-2.5 while i would perfer the falling resistance since april to be taken out first which is now around 2, because both the 125 and 200 avg are now at 1.95 which was also the closing price today and could give additional resistance.

TRAF: crazy. Move LPP to 17. Enjoy!

IEC: an excellent up today. Move LPP to 1.58 or higher.

MLINK: gapped up today. Move LPP to 1.70 Enjoy! :))

WIN: this is a real speculative stock. You should take some profit today because it failed to take out the previous high.

LIVE: move LPP to 2.05

EVER: raise LPP to 1.85

EMC: raise LPP to 4.45 Enjoy! :)

MK: Set LPP/stop at 2.32 Good luck.

JAS: perfect chart.
PTTAR: todays' profermance has proved zorro's advice.

mlink: should have support at the gap between 1.4 and 1.46. seamico gave resistance at 1.8-2 end of last month. the 4 day avg today at 1.51 would be a good entrypoint or stop as well. i recommended mlink at around 1, now the risk is high to jump on the wagon.

win: the 10 avg might be a good entry/stop, but it seems for these stocks it is better to jump in immediately and allow a larger stoploss than to wait for the best entry. could do better than mlink.

sam: is breaking now the 25 avg on good volume as i was hoping for. i am overwheight on this stock, hoping to double.

pe is also worth to jump on.

At Thursday, January 03, 2008 10:51:00 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

jas: hold on to it.

l&e is uninspiring, i would switch.

vng: for the time being it should be good to hold, 25 avg not broken yet, sell if it breaks 4.

nsm: could be one day the rising star with a huge gain. if you don't watch your portefolio everyday and don't have much time for switching, you might better just hold it, otherwise there are better opportunities but they require attention.

nncl-w1 should be also good stock to hold for the next couple of month

At Thursday, January 03, 2008 11:02:00 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

kwh: the day it makes a big jump towards 1.5 would be good to sell it if you enter now. the downdtrend still persists.

inet: doesn't look good, a run above 1.5 (downres. since sept.) would be worth a chase.

loxley: uncertain for the moment, it looks like a downchannel since october with lower highs and lower lows. you could enter at channelsupport which could take a month or 2 to reach and be at 1.8, maybe the 200 avg area will give support earlier.

Thanks for info on TRAF 1:2. had completely missed that. Right or wrong I sold as I don't really understand what is happening and looking at the chart, if it goes down it will go down very fast. I will watch with a view to buying back in after 10/1 as I have a feeling from some "tells" that this stock is going to be the next N-PARK i.e. it could go up many (more) thousands of percent. For now I will book my profit it is easier to go back in than to recover from a loss.

I sold SAM earlier after it jumped to 2.10. It seemed that the support is at 2.04, do you think it's possible to jump in again?

Thanks in advance.

At Thursday, January 03, 2008 8:58:00 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

sam: failed again to close above the 25 avg but as long as it closes green, one should not worry. not sure if you will be able to buy it back for 2.04, maybe you should have bought it back at todays closing.
there could be a rising support developing for the last 6 trading days, which stands at 2.08 tomorrow and this will be the 25 avg as well. if it goes into the red, things would look not so strong but as long as sam can hold above 2 i won't sell.

amc: fell below the 25 avg, better to get out unless it rebounds back above again along with the set, which is in a good support range now.

gbx: closed at 1.46 and the last support (25 avg at 1.44) is close. one could enter this opportunity with a tight stop.

pe: 75 avg now clearly taken out, 125 avg reached, increase lpp to 1.14

s2y: tested the 200 avg and bounced back sharply, could swing now between 2 and 2.4 for a while.

syntec: is slightly below the 25 avg, needs to close green tomorrow otherwise one should sell.

win: set stop at 1.22 which is the 10 avg and a rising channelsupport since 18.12.07.

thl: nearly reached the 75 avg at 1.5, could be profittaking tomorrow and buying at closing should be a good opportunity when you haven't bought it yet. stop = 25 avg at 1.33

sta: rebounding but the former horizontal support at 13.5 might be all we get.

cfresh: macd turning but looking at the 1 year chart this stock looks boring. could see a rebound of 5-10 %, the longterm charts are bearish and one could think the company will be broke. if fundamentals are good then this could be something for longterm, otherwise any dayramp should be used to sell.

preb: could be worth with stop 1.17 (25 avg)

lst: has been mentioned as a buy already several times, still worth to enter, but on monday there could be profittaking after todays run

qh-w4: had a good run last year, now one could try to use the rising support since august as stop if one enters (around 0.8)

gen-w1: not sure where it will go from now.

win: closed at 25 avg, if it trades in the red on monday it might fall back to 75 avg around 1.03

jas: i would use 0.37 or 0.38 as stop.

sam: one could gamble to buy near the alltime low of 1.7-1.8 but the macd might turn bearish and the rsi is also not strong enough, so it could make a new low. i will wait for a close above the 25 avg to buy in again.

siam: failed at the 75 avg but still above 25 avg which i would use as lpp or stop.

smm: i am watching this one quite some time but felt it to be too dangerous to enter despite trading above 25 and 75 avg as any rally didn't last long. today it broke 125 and 200 avg which should be bullish but it could fall back below again tomorrow as it did twice in november. i would be very careful and use the 200 avg as intraday stop (0.77)

bwg: broke the uptrend on 2nd jan which should have been a sell signal. there could develop a downres. since 17.12. and the macd is turning negative.
closing above 7.5 tomorrow would give a better picture and worth a try.

distar: i wrote on 6.12.:

"the downresistance since july is not broken yet (0.48). if it breaks there could be a w-reversal with st-resistance at 0.5 and then a strong target / resistance at 0.57-0.6"

this resistance was reached today, it is the downchannel in the 1 year chart. will be hard to break.
next time just keep holding at least for the day when an interim resistance (like the 75 avg at 0.5) is reached in the morning session. when a stock is up while the set is down, there is always a good chance it will continue the intraday run and if not one can usually sell the next day when the stock approches the resistance again.

lst: correction today as expected, should go up further but sell if 2.4 breaks.

mme: 25 avg held up well, now targeting 2.5-2.7

solar: area of 3.5 might be a strong resistance.

lst: time for profit taking will come soon (3-3.2)

mme: closed at 2.16 despite having bid at 2.18 and is still above the 25 avg. should be ok to hold for now.

pe: reached 25 avg, one could re-enter now with tight stop.

s2y: closed just a bit below the 200 avg, tomorrow one needs to decide whether to stay in or to take profit.

solar: reached 3.48 and retracted sharply, you should have sold as i recommended. if it can break 3.5 it might be possible to re-enter with tight stop.

win: likely to drop a bit further till the 75 avg at 1.05 is reached.

mme: broke below the 25 avg, better to take profit as it is likely to test the previous low again.

solar: one could re-enter when the golden cross of the 25 and 75 avg is reached (2.85-2.9)

lst: reached the november high and had a volume peak. i don't think it will go up much further during next week.

i checked many charts but couldn't find anything interesting for this week. let's see what the drop of the dow will do to the set and if there are any stocks that buck the trend on monday.

distar: try to buy when the 1 year downchannel support is reached, now around 0.39

sam: falling resistance since 3rd of january stands now around 1.63, tomorrow if broken intraday one could jump on. 25 avg at 1.8 might be resistance again.
the warrant broke the downres. already today. As it has a gearing of 1.3 only it is not worth to play but might outperform in st.

tgci: closed at 25 avg after having broken it yesterday. the 75 avg comes down fast, so it might be better to watch it for a couple of days or weeks to see if the 25 avg can cross the 75 avg.

ynp: bullish divergence from the rsi, rebound from falling 1 year support, worth the risk to enter with tight stop

nwr: if set can continue the run and break 800 then nwr might follow but foreigners are still net sellers so i guess nwrs triple bottom that was broken yesterday can not be repaired. if nwr is strong tomorrow (going above 0.6) it would be worth to chase.
win: agree, tomorrow would be a good buy on a correction if you haven't bought it at 1.05 as i recommended it.

tt&t: octobers downchannel support comes soon which is near the 1 year low of 0.72.

DEMCO. longer upper handle hammer with relatively big volume. Signal of distribution. You should reduce your position/take some profit today. Anyway, set LPP to 4.50-4.55. If breaks, stop out.

seafco: some buying interest today but failed to close above the 25 avg, watch out if it can do this tomorrow and if it can, enter.

mlink: will enter a bit lower when it approaches the 25 avg, now still too close to the res. around 2 and could even fall to the 75 avg.
win is closer to the support and offers a smaller stop and as my internet is not stable these days i prefer to select a stock that i can hold a bit longer rather than a volatile one that is better for daytrading.

rs: better to enter when the 25 avg is taken out which is falling steep, it just broke the sideways channel and could drop a lot further.

lanna: seems to be a good entrypoint if you keep a tight stop.

To ueda,

RS: I agree with zorro. Do the gamble only when you are very sure.
I dared to gamble JAS because I think JAS is a good company and the price has been smashed down, down to too low and the consecutive huge trade volume. It can still go up tomorrow, but I think 50% is enough for one day trade. I killed my "greedy devil" inside and took profit at 0.27.

singha: has a beautiful downresistance since 27/12/07 standing now at 2.04, buy on breakout.
the warrant doesn't look appealing as it has an exercise price of 6

sam: seems to be interesting at this stage, might buy some today but the chart is not clear now.

ccet: seems to be only a technical rebound from the oversold condition and will stall around 6, the warrant might not go above 1.5

iec: still prohibited from mt&ns for 2 weeks, if you mirror the peak then it will go down, breaking 1.3 would be worth to chase.

SINGHA: Its RSI is oversold for some days. keep an eye on its volume as the signal to buy.

SAM: I think you can buy some today as its RSI is up.

CCET: volume is not big. Better wait and see.

IEC: I think you can chase it with tight stop as the 75 days MA seems a support. Good luck.

LANNA: if you try it, set stop at 14.10 Good luck.

TRC: Raise LPP to 5.75

TYM: Raise LPP to 5.10

TCC: Raise LPP to 3.10

SECC: Raise LPP to 2.92 or higher.

Enjoy! :)

DTAC: connect all the lows and the highs since 20 Dec. 2007, you can see an uptrend channel (left side narro, right side wider). It has been vibrating within this channel. Use the support and resistance to vibrate your profit. Enjoy! :)

ASP-W1: pls ask zorro for advice.

Finally, SET really made a huge jump today. :)

Thank you for all advises.

I'm learning how to do research shares as well so I can contribute to the community here.

set: foreigners were net buyers for the first time since ages, but only a small amount.

syntec: rebound from oversold condition, downtrend might not be over yet.

asp-w1: in the middle field regarding the b&s value (around 1.1), expiring this year in october so only for st interesting, from the chart there is still some downside, if it can hold above 1.75 for a couple of days it would be better.

gen: the area of 1.3 was a resistance in oct/nov and should now be support together with the 75 avg, worth to enter with a tight stop.

TRC: I checked its 5 year wkly chart. It's not near its all time high but it took out its all previous high. This means the stock is now in strong momentum. Volume has been increasing healthily. It's OK. Raise LPP to 6.00 or higher. Enjoy! :)
