What do you all think of this stock: BGRIM ?
JON, did you call IVL? If yes, when? January 2016?
Hi Scrt4u
I've accepted your invitation. Now testing to see if it publishes.
Hi Han Solo, your ID displays on right upper corner of the webpage now. Welcome!
No.3 is yours.
Have been sitting on a large pile of IVL since long. But cost is low @24 approx. As Jon said about this market, they kept pushing the prices of stocks around to shake out the small guys but I just held tight. Although it's doubled, this is probably going to be a long term holding.
To San Solo, yes, bighands are holding a lot of IVL. I blindly guess that it can reach 58+.

Han Solo, if you have good stock picks, please advise here. Thanks in advance!
Hi yes, i did call IVL but quite some time ago ive been their took my profit and out but it took some time but so did ESSO and iam just shy of doulbling my 600k into 1,2000,000 but to be fair i didnt call that as i was and still am waiting for a take over bid. I try to be careful now about what i put on this blog as i have been accused of being all sorts and even just a few days ago a suggestion was made that i was someone else praising myself. which is totally incorrect. The biggest call i have made this year is without a doubt AH as i was in at bht12 and i believe that was around what it was when i called it.SVI was my latest shout at 4.98. ive had many a profit on this stock and usually get out when it goes over 6bht. I do think at some point in the future it will make a big break out but i have plenty of the W3 if it does as an edge .)
JON, thanks for your answer. I think your posts have been of great value. Keep doing your good job!
BGRIM: interesting! I bought some today at 23.10 Baht
JON, your great call "PTG" is much appreciated (see "Stocks discussion No.10 - 2017")
Thankyou and lets hope AQUA can do the same, its all about being patient and holding then you can beart the bookmaker who is in fact your own broker thats why day trading NEVER works. Be warned ,) TTFN Jon
Tata Steel seems ready for a move. Good volume today. Have some previously and plan to add more.
For a speculative punt, look at Npp. For speculative ones, I usually go in for a small amount based on how much I’m willing to lose against where I think it will go. There will always be some losses but on the whole , have made money.
For eg. Amanah. Entered around 1.05 baht a long time back. It swung from +20 to -40 % but just hung on. Then it made a big move out to over 2 baht and that’s when I got out. Now around 1.35. In this case, I probably quit at a good time. But sometimes you never know what is in store. Does anyone remember KC ? Had a huge run up . I had been in at 1.10. It moved and moved and I sold out at 4.00 but guess what - it kept moving and ended the rally at 12 baht. I thought I had a good run for 4 x profit but I had I held on that was a 12 bagger. Today it’s a suspended stock but that’s another story. I also have had huge losers. So it’s not all roses.
To Han Solo, thanks for sharing your know-how.
MC: What do you think of this stock? I blindly guess it's a double bottom (weekly chart).
A shipping cycle uptrend. If you can buy and hold for the next 2-3 years go for PSL and /or TTA. I don't recommend their warrants unless you have steel guts. Personally I don't think either PSL or TTA needs new cash so the warrants will probably expire. But between now and expiry, they will swing wildly and some players will make a ton from them. If you don't day trade, best to stay out.
For those following the recent news that Thai SET is now near it's previous all time high of 20+ years ago, here's something to think about :
To breach the long term high, what stocks would have to go up which can move the market to those numbers ? Once we go to a new high, then the conventional thinking is that there is no upper resistance for a while. If that is the case, then what stocks can carry the momentum forward ? Lastly, when the market turns into a young bull, the whole of the SET tends to follow the theme. So which small caps would shoot up along with the broader market ?
for what its worth i am very confident the SET will break straight through the 1700 barrier and i mean actually close above 1700, probably a mild correction soon after that to around 1680 close and away we go again. Lets see ??? Ive holding firm for sure and have some roses profits but like i said before, i don't count till the dealing is done ,)
This morning CNS ( Capital Nomura) released a research report on CBG ( Carabao Group). Their advice : to sell with a target price of 67.50. I could not believe what they wrote and I guess neither does the market. Today the stock is up from 86 to 95 as I write this with a volume of 14 million shares traded. This is not some small scale trading. I fail to understand who is this research analyst and how come he is still working at this. Has he ever got any of his research correct ? Jon- you are right. The stock broker is probably the worst enemy of the small investor.
Han Solo,
Excellent post on October 6. Markets move up for a reason, because fundamentals are good and the market is buying into it. With these two factors in, the direction will be going up. Many times in the stock market, investors make the wrong decision because of fear. When the price is high in their eyes, they are afraid and want to back out immediately. They only like to buy and accumulate further when prices are low. They feel safe.
As many know, my new investing strategy is, when these two factors are positive, I buy more and more, and the market corresponds the same. My holdings simply go up in monetary value. Many can go back to previous months post, all the stocks that have +, by today's date, are already in 10-30% gains territory. It's not a guess, it's simply taking 1+1 and acting upon it.
With that being said, what is the direction of the SET? It's an upward spearhead shooting up. From 28-Aug-2017, it shot up. Will it keep going up? Are the stocks in your holdings with good growth fundamentals? When the answer to both is yes, we are in the market. We are not waiting by the sidelines. However, everything in life has an expiry date. The earlier you are in when the direction changes positive, you have a reward of 99% and a risk of 1%. As time passes, the reward drops and the risk increases. So don't wait until it's too late, then to enter. Opportunities arise everyday.
Interestingly, you brought up CBG. I'm still fully loaded in on this. In 2-3 week's time, 20% so far since it's directional change on September 22 2017. Research analyst are not investors. They are paid to write a report. Of course, this comment isn't fair to some great research analyst who have a passion for investing and actually write great reports. But the most majority views the stock market as a job. But in reality, to be successful in the stock market, it needs to be your passion, something that drives you forward and makes your blood pump with meaning. So when he says sell, it's just noise. I'm keeping my shares, when the direction does change, I'll consider what portions to sell. Main reason is, opportunities happen every single day. When a train ride ends, I'm not going to be sitting there, I'm hopping on the next train going upwards.
As many investors here have interest in AQUA and UMI, these are eggs waiting to be hatched to become the next opportunity. UMI still has no heartbeat, still waiting. AQUA has some spark and action going on, but there is a war and debate going on, just a matter of time till the positive wins firmly and we jump in the ride.
Emotions and fear are your worst enemies in the stock market. Conquer and fix those. When your mind is calm and silent, observe the market, and act with certainty. Money keeps coming in.
bjc- seems on verge of a major move.
this market still has the right ingredients of going up and possibly breaking records sooner than expected as its the small man selling out too early and the big boys scooping the very same stocks right up ,If you are in, then my advice ia stay in but the correction will happen but 16.70-80 should be the lowest support level. Ive riding the bull and holding even though i could have cashed out this morning on double money on ESSO at 14.20 and 81,000 shares at 7.11, i still held out, both PM SAT AND QH BLAND etc are flying but time not selling anytime soon unless the mkt record is broken or ESSO is taken over.
Now there seems to be more sense on this blog and i hope we can keep it that way and please listen to me when i say your stock broker is your worst enemy hence my advice is definitely don't have a stop loss as this is the SET and do the opposite of what your broker recommends, just do the opposite and double down on your losers ,)
Definitely don't day trade unless its warrents and you are a professional ,)
Happy days for all of us are ahead apart from the North Korea bit, then hedge with gold ,)
Just cashed out of BR at 8.6. Been waiting for this one for 15 months and it finally delivered decent 45% return including div. have rotated a small part of the funds into TU which is a laggard that has been dropping to a price I am comfortable with 18.6. But will DCA on TU slowly as I think there could be some more downside.
Also chickens coming home to roost for that ponzi called GL. Shame I have some investor friends that are caught up in that,
Hope they freeze the assets of Mitsuji Konoshita before he gets away. Immigration should be notified and on alert in case he does a runner. Falsification and corporate fraud, exaggerating company's profits.

What names will benefit most from GL going under? TK and S11 are probably the closest but also MTLS and SAWAD. The large caps are too expensive IMO but the small caps are worth a look if they can wrestle market share from a fallen rival.
this mkt still looking rosey, only the independents brought it down today by buying ,)
dont be fooled and yes i am still holding EVERYTHING theres still a large bull to come and the correction as still a little way to go yet but hold firm believe that ,)
Right now we are in the perfect correction and possibly 1270 before the rebound, hold on tight as this is damned obvious and don't buy or sell just HOLD what you have and hopefully the SET will be the first to lead the BULL ,) Lets see but at the moment ,all is perfect timing ,) Sell out and you will surely lose buy in and exactly the same you will lose ,) Hold n and you will be rewarded for sure ,) If you day trade , then only the full SET mkt ,)
This is a healthy correction for a market that has been on a almost straight upwards movement, sell the rips buy the dips as they say, have my eye on PTTEP after they took a non cash impairment charge which will dampen profit this year. But strong cash flow and decent yields will mean a bargain will be had if retail sells this down below 85 baht.
Added small position at 18.25 for TU. Also took a position in S11 at 8.25 baht after the GL news broke.
Still think there is more to come on the correction side and if so a double bottom would be healthy ,) keep holding, all my main stocks went up even in the dip apart from PM which is certainly no worries at the price ime in and a healthy divvy ,)
I am new on this blog ,but I was follow it for a while. Now SET is pretty much volatile with a big volume and that can be good chance to make a solid profit if you have good strategy.I prefer swing and position trading.Daily trading is an exception.I strongly recommend S/L here, although I see some of You think opposite. Now ,as I think, small cup and Mai stocks can be now more interested than big cup. With big volatility is more savvy to adjust to market and swing with waves as I think.
things still looking rosey,at some point the world correction will come but hopefully short and sweet but when i do sell the lovely profits i have (not anytime soon ) i will be getting back into CPF as my defence for the larger correction whenever that maybe and hopefully not anytime soon also. Its a stubborn stock but ive held it and sold it many times and it looks about right now to start dipping my toe in the water as its probably the best defensive stock on the SET ,)
Just took a large position in TU this morning at 17.8 which is a very good price, now averaging just above 18 baht for this stock. CPF will look interesting at some point but needs a more attractive entry price. I entered at 20 baht a few years ago and averaged bought til 16.5 baht. The rebound was fairly swift and managed a hefty gain selling at 27 baht. But COf core earnings are very weak, their profit contributions are being sustained by hefty trading gains in CPALL shares which I never understand how they get away with that from the SEC???
Also buying back Intuch this morning at 56.25 baht. My strategy is to rotate my small caps into larger defensive big caps with decent div yields.
At what point will BLA start to look like a value play? Down 25% since the news broke of AIA selling through BBL branches? It is looking very cheap as an insurance play, possible value trap?
Sold most oil (PTT/PTG/etc.) few days ago.
Must say, not much to buy at the current scan through. I've added TPIPP and MINT. Now this tone is very much different from earlier where there were so many stocks I want to enter. Before was like 80%, now it's 20%. Some correction in oil and telecoms.
