Looks like we are going back on the roller coaster. Greece as usual seems to be the culprit. So there may be some good buys right around the corner

set: fell yesterday to the 15 day avg and rebounded to the 5 day avg.
foreigners were selling.
now back at the 15 avg again.

set is making a bearish wedge since end of september, the wedge support is at around 944 today and 948 tomorrow. if broken we could see 860-890 again.
only the 25 avg at 934 might act as a net to catch the fall.

let's see if foreigners are back buying today.

i am out and won't re-enter unless the 5 day avg is taken again or other positive signals show up.
maybe a bit playing with smt on weakness which has a good looking chart but might peak in volume today.

set: 2nd day of foreign selling, albeit not heavy.
yesterday it rebounded from the wedge support, now slightly above the 5 day avg but it lmost touched the falling resistance since end of july.
(if the set climbs above 975 today or 973 on monday I would call it broken)

set: should be decision day tomorrow whether it can break the falling resistance since august at 967 or the wedge support at 959.

Surprisingly interesting day...
SET closed at 983. After close someone made the biggest single purchase I've ever seen on the SET: 307_million_ Baht worth of PTTGC!!

Any thoughts on: TTW, it's shown little movement; consider selling it?. ASP has high dividend but little movement.
KGI doing very well and ROJAN slowly coming back.

zorro, so resistance is broken now, does it mean SET will go up now? According to Boillinger ,SET could only go up to 992...

set: next resistance is the wedge resistance of exactly 1000 (give it a point or 2) tomorrow.
the former horizontal support of 1010 will act as resistance as well and is not far away. unfortunately the 75 day avg is at the same level as well.
could these be cleared we still have to take out the 200 day avg which has a broad range around 1040.
with foreigners on the selling side today one should be cautious, though it needs to be observed further as such selling is not a big clue after a strong performance compared to other asian markets.

will be tomorrow the last opportunity to get out or was today the start of the year end rally?
the dow is looking bullish right now, but we need more volume and foreign buying on the set.

@lukdod: this is not a single trade by a single person but the order matching of many traders at closing, not after closing.
nothing unusual about it.

Whats up with a big slump in the end of the day? Profit taking or following European markets(unlikely)..?

At Wednesday, November 09, 2011 11:53:00 PM , Blogger zorro said...

profit taking happened during the morning session.
in the afternoon the set wanted to continue the uptrend but the european selling had its effect.
it ended near the wedge support and 5 day avg.

tomorrow we need an opening in the green to stay above the wedge support above 969
volume went up as required but it was selling, foreigners were selling as well, doesn't look good at the moment.
i sold all when the afternoon sell-off happened but will get back in if the set opens strong.
somehow i doubt it but i change my mind almost everyday.

SPPT

Hard drives for computers, huge back log in that now.

It has dropped to 2.18

D/E .74
Dividend 12.55%
Current P/E 22.55% this very high compared to the earlier years.

It was just humming along in the 3's till September then it dropped like a rock

Thinking of a return in 2012
any thoughts?

Luhdod I see no one answer your question about TTW I bouhgt 29 K shares at the low. It will pick up tap water for western Bangkok. It has also branched out into the solar game. I believe to be a good buy, if your willing to hold.

Kem Eng is recommending BTS today. certainly a cheap stock dividend in the 7 % range.

Any thoughts?

set: trying to go up but always gets a damper from europe.

after breaking the down resistance it looked good. a bit later the wedge support was broken but has been repaired again and the set has a hard time staying above.
today closed again near this support and needs a green opening (or better closing) of 3 points.

as foreign buyers returned and the end of the year is coming closer i am more bullish at the moment but can change my mind by the minute.

HI EVERYONE ,

SCR4tu - your previous post that food is ready , was that for me or someone else ,

Zorro - foreign buyers have returned, but no one says whether they are the real farang or people using foreign brokers to buy , so could technically be thais for all you know.

the major foreign brokers like jp morgan, goldman and morgan stanley are selling thai shares mainly banking and energy . so i expect a fall once they are done. could expect it some time early next month . will soon know.

"MSCI ex. Japan has removed THAI for the major list and the Global Small Cap has added THAI, GLOBAL, LHBANK and TRUE, while RCL and ROJNA were cut. This will come into effect on 30 November."

Does this have any significant bearing on those currently holding ROJNA or RCL???

Hi Lukdod regarding MINT,I think you will find its 52 week high was 13.80 as thats what i sold out for in an around august and i bought back again twice at around 11 and again below 10,this i have done it twice and my average is around 10.60,i am in for the medium long term but check out the major shareholders , Bill Heineke who i have had the pleasure to meet does not make many mistakes (apart from chicken treat) he took on pizza hut head to head because the kfc guys pulled the plug and hes winning hands down.Dont be shy to buy that stock and most brokers are shouting loud about it anyway.(that bit tells me it will go down b4 rising) I am still collecting and every dip,i weill collect more.
The guy who was asking about TWZ,i would not touch that at any cost as the owners are the ones bailing out and that tells me a story, just like THAIRE,owners are selling ,so common scense tells me to stay well away.Still bullish of the mkt regardless but i honestly dont care too much as dips are buying opps and i enjhoy those.
See you guys have gone to sleepover the past few days, wakey wakey and looking forward to that 2000k gold by chinese new year>) hee ha

In your earlier mention of MINT you indicated 'it treats me well especially when you trade it just before the _warrents are due to trade_', and I asked 'I know nothing abt warrants & MINT's are due in Dec 22 & 23 this year. Why should an investor in their common stock sell B4 warrants expire"???
I've been in MINT for a while, at 10.50..waiting for it to move up...unlike yesterday ;-)
Thanks for your assistance.

Lukdod,
warrents as u probably know give you the right to cash them in and buy the stock at the fixed price (ie mint 13 bht)if the mkt is out of flavour then the stock will normally follow but if the green light is there, then chances are the stock will move abbove the exchange price to raise cash,if not, nobody with any scense will excersise the warrent
i gambled,i got it and right now, gambling again, mint goes down tommorrow,i buy more,if up.i ride.
hope that is a clue for you >)

From the techie at Phillip Securities came a sell recommendation as it is overbought.
Support 7.2-7.4, resistance 8.

SET: foreigners selling, SET below 5 day avg, yesterdays rebound on low volume might not be sustainable, watch out if the low from the last 2 days at 965 gets broken, this is the last supporting 25 avg and there is only a horizontal support at 948-952 left.

To sell or not to sell....as the SET is going nowhere, let the individual stock charts speak.

Here are 3 to watch: PTT, AJ and KTB.

PTT has a falling resistance since April, standing now at 307.

AJ has a falling resistance since August, standing now at 13.7.

KTB the same as AJ, 14.4 is the resistance.

Those could be a good buy on breakout which could happen anytime soon as the price is close to the resistance line.

Will check more charts on the weekend and post them.

CPF (H)
What's going on with this? What's the H stand for again? Been away for a while :D

SET - 900-910?

PTT - 265-270?

ADVANC - Nearing peak. Increased usage of telecommunications during the flood has boosted all telecoms revenue for quarter 3. May hold or sell. Dont buy now, too late considering the risk.

Most are directionless and flat. Have to wait a few more days to be sure. But 70% sure, it's downhill from today onwards.

JAS: rising support since October, will be at 1.93 on Monday

I totally agree with you. They are one of the best stocks, ones which you would want to accumulate more and more when the right time comes. I hold CPF and MAKRO, myself too, and plan to get more, just waiting for the right time again.
For some reason, I'm waiting for the big crash of 2012. So definitely holding on to stable strong stocks CPF, MAKRO, ADVANC.

SET: I don't have the RSI right now so can't say whether it is in the overbought range (yesterdays RSI is 58 only) but there should be more upside before a major correction starts.

Today was a bullish breakaway gap which I don't expect to be closed.

We could be in the Santa Claus rally so selling might not be a good choice unless you re-enter soon.

The index reached now a rising resistance since September, standing today at 1026 plus / minus a few points.
Above 1030 it should be clearly broken.

Then we will face the hurdle of the 200 day avg around 1040.

If the 1026 resistance stays in place I guess we see a one or two -day pullback to 1010 (former support and 5 day avg for tomorrow) or worst case 1000.

Rayfisher, waiting for dips could let you left out on the rally.
Foreigners are buying again and the retailers are selling because they think like you and wait for the dips.

Just watch the charts, many resistances are broken, take a look at those I recommended to watch, like AJ, SCB, KK, BAY...all made nice gains when they broke the resistance.

If you are waiting for the SET to go below 1000 to buy in then you could be buying into a new downtrend.

lukdod, honestly I dont expect much profit from PTTGC, 5-10% upside would be enough for short term trade but if you long, probably we might see 80-90 next year.

blindly guess SET will zig zag up to 1070 by year end so just stick with SET50 & tech chart...dont enter if RSI overbought

tdy THAI, TASCO might be interesting...one small one CEN also cooking, guess will fly too

I don't think it will last long as foreigners are buying heavily.
On the other hand the 200 avg at 1030 has been reached, could be tough to break.

ueda the problem is still europe, the problem is spreading , and spreading fast, it is already affecting hungary , sweden, russia, austria, apart from the ones already in the news .

this will still take time, to diffuse.

once this happens , history has always shown that in such a situation the usd becomes stronger.

so to put 2 + 2 together is, usd becomes stronger , and asian or emerging stocks fall, usually at least twice the increament of the usd which i expect to be around 5 % from now to the new year . the second major reason is china, which is slowly down , this will infact effect a lot of countries next year .

cheers

No it shows the market opened higher then it closed. It's simply means it's time to pay attention and things could go either way today. We should get a confirmation either way today.

If you combine that information with the news you probably made the right decision as a trader.

SET is down inline with other markets. It broke the 5 day avg so I will stay put for the next 2-3 days.

I think it will drop only little to the gap, the area of 1015 could be support, if foreigners are selling and the support gets broken we could be in a longer downtrend.

I still foresee bullish ahead, with much stronger foreign reserves & manageable debt, thai & other ASEAN countries will be ok even with EU crisis out there.

With rebuilding & many other projects kick off soon, defenitely we can find a good bargain especially those related with government spending ie. KTB, SCC or CPF.

As expected correction in banking, if down another 2-3%...you can start to enter again

JON - i do not trust the brokers , my dartboard , basically predicts that this month will be a month that the market will fall, this basically is pointing to around 900 - 920 or basically a 10% fall from now to around the first week of january. yesterday the market was up most of the day and closed in the red , today was red. i do not follow the 5 day avg and the other avg you all write about .

it predicts a good january or basically brings us back to this level of around 1050 or close to it.

the gold markets are also acting up and in 40 odd days i will get my scotch from you . btw i am close to central bangna ,

Still i think it will be you buying the J and B as gold always rallys at Chinese new year and thats when i will be selling my funds if ime right, then buying back later, over and out TTFN

Jon - green will do just fine , normally gold rallies close to the new year and chinese new year, but next year is different , china is having a problem as this time around both usa and europe are affected, so their buying power has been slowing down.,

with the problems going on , both in europe and usa, and china going on a soft landing i would not be surprised if gold goes even lower to around 1100 or even 800 usd per oz sometime next year.

this only time will tell if i and my way of thinking is right .

till then keep my green label in store .

hi all

ueda - charts are a good indicator, but i use it for a long term trend and not short term indicator, as brokers , media and analyst cloud , your views , perception and knowledge ,with different analysis.

my darts have been a better indicator for the general trend.

similar to the one i wrote about on the 9th where my board says 900 - 920 as a good range where we should find the set by year end .

early next month we should see a nice january rally that should take it back to 1050 levels .

Charts have there value. But, you can not depend on them alone. You have to know what the current investment environment is in.

We are in classic example right now, when it looked like the E.U. was going to solve it's problems we went up. The end answer we are dealing with now reflects the reality and we are heading back down.

But if you put the two together, the answer is we headed to buy territory again.

TASCO deserves attention now, if you can call the bottom on this go around, you can make some money

UEDA my dartboard still points to that figure of 900 - 920 points .

could be close to that or could be the 4 -5 th jan .we will soon know.

i would not touch the banking sector at least not for the next few months, as the floods have had a bad effect, this has caused the owners and workers to become paupers , so at the end of the day it will affect the banking industry, to what extent , only their profit loss disclosure in feb 2012 will tell the damage,

plus the european effect will keep a check on the set for a few more months, my take is till march of 2012 where i see the dow jones
under 10000 points , gold around 1000 - 1200 oil at below 90 usd

anyone out there know a good place to learn how to trade futures , i could make some money on that .

sorry for being bearish or dampening anyones hope.

Yes somehow banking wl be affected from floods but with all rebuilding process, they also wl get more benefits especially those related with government agency & still stock market is one of easiest way to get more funding in their project.

Believe me, thai & countries like indonesia, spore, mlysia are pretty stable & many big funds waiting us to sell at cheap

hope you didnt miss some good bargain if only wait SET back to 900

At Thursday, December 15, 2011 3:46:00 PM , Blogger sam said...

UEDA the problem with europe will effect malaysia and thailand the most. these two countries have the biggest export contribution , thailands gdp numbers are 70% exports. malaysia is similar, we changed from usa in the early 2000s to europe and then to china, but this time all the three are affected. thailand cannot be too far behind.

indonesia has the lowest debt to gdp numbers of 15 - 17% compared to thailand which is close to 50 - 55% and malaysia of 45 - 50% .

right now the funds are the ones selling as this time around cheap becomes cheaper. look at gold , this is supposed to be a hedge, or a safe haven , right now gold is falling daily, which only goes to say that there is more inherent problems then you are able to read.

the benefit that you talk about will not be felt for some time due to changes in accounting .

i could be wrong, i am not advising anyone, anything, i am just writing about it the way i see it.

cheers

JON - in your post of the 16th dec you inform that gold will not hit below 1200 and i personally think that it would be below that so that time frame is set to 30th june 2012. what are you willing to put up for your double or nothing in this . you will lose the green on the first part of the bet of gold being over 2000 usd per oz by chinese new year.

that is totally different from our other topic of the set which i still feel will hit 900 or close to it and your claim of 1100 or close to it. so the goal post is not moved anywhere as we have not bet on anything in this , this is from my dart board , gold is from knowledge,

jon - i think when you wrote this you were drinking, my call is not 1200 usd per oz for gold it is yours, i accept the following
1) time frame 6 months so technically 30th june , before which gold will go below 1200 usd. so there is no question of nearest wins, you got to hope and pray that it does not go below 1200 usd per oz before that day. my thinking is by songkran i could get another bottle from you.

2) 900 or 1100 - that we can wager as nearest wins. time frame 6th jan 2012 ,work on % to calculate difference, what say you ,man or mouse , your call . i already have a bottle of green in store with you. if you win this , i do not see you , come chinese new year. if i am correct with the nearest one as well , i get 2 bottles.
