KAMART: It's already up more than 475%. I blindly guess it is too toppy. You may consider to sell most of your postion if it can not take the previous high (2.42 Baht), just keep a small position for fun trading.

Morning, what do you guys think of TGPRO, will it jump up again? I felt dramatically and i see lots of ppl just buy and wait? Another one to watch is ASIMAR, made some money on it before, but not the trading volume is really low and its not breaking up often as it used to do.Sometimes I think few traders can move that stock up?

set: foreigners bought heavily.
the index broke yesterday throught the 75 avg at 1068 and found resistance at the 25 avg today, then pulling back to the 75 avg again
which acts as support now.

are we on a run to 1160 now?

true: bought some today when the volume increased. broke 25 avg which is not that big news but the downresistance from april has been taken out as well, which seems to be more important.

today as buy recommendation from poems techical as well with support around 4.1 and res around 4.3
will sell a part at this res., the rest i will keep for 4.5 or maybe even much higher in the long run

set: can't find any news, all markets suddenly went up during the lunch break, the set followed.
technically the set rebounded from the 200 avg but is facing lots of resistance now: 5 and 15 avg near 1060, a bit higher the 75 and then 25 avg with a possible downchannel resistance.
volume is thinning, could be sign of a bottom.

selective buying oinly, i prefer the communication sector right now.

communication could face some resistance at 122 (now 118) where the high of 2004/5 is located.
strong resistance at 145-148 (14 year channel resistance)

set: closed at 25 avg, if no nonsense is coming from overseas tonight then it should be taken out tommorrow.
only a possible downchannel resistance at 1072-1074 could be a barrier.

good point about JAS Ray but money to be made everyday (or lost) on this stock ,as always in the top 10 of highest volumes, need to be sharp though,as been trading this one since 1997 and you need to be glued to your computer,
everyday, there is trading opps but for the medium /long term ,easy to run out of patience ,so get in,get out and so on

jas: bought a couple of days ago and added today, but won't hold for long.
25 avg coming (now around 2.5) as resistance soon and at 2.6-2.7 the former horizontal support will be tough.
will use the 10 avg as stop/lpp (now at 2.34)

set: now at the final resistance, the 1 month downchannel. if the set is green tomorrow it should be broken and things will look much better

e: downresistance which started end of july was broken today but it stalled at the 25 avg (1.32).

Meow to find the up trends is not easy, this is very good place to find them. The other is to follow the local news. Try decipher what is really going on, sine there is normally conflicts in reporting, from one paper the next. Somewhere in between lies the truth.

I don't think your going find much luck in asking a broker where the uptrend is. You spot something that looks good verify it here and with the person assigned the stock.

I have to say you will get more direct answers here then where I have seen

Regarding trends and SET behavior: no blind direct correlation to news or other indices, just 2 weeks ago all the stock markets went up for few days and SET was falling for a week. I cant find any logical explanation to that.

At Friday, September 09, 2011 2:53:00 PM , Blogger rayfisher said...

I believe in the time frame your talking about. Politics was raising it's ugly head in Thailand. Mr. T was in the news and still is. Govt was new and being challenged at every turn. I think the best gauge for that effect is the foreigners being net buyers or sellers. Yesterday to my surprise they were net buyers. Didn't see that till today.

But it has been one heck of a roller coaster and sometimes there is no logic, just crowd behavior.

I can't tell you why it has been falling so far today, no bad news anywhere and it may turn by the end of the day.

Meow I can tell by your posts you know more about this then I do. But, this is the only market I have ever traded in. Where you look for logic sometimes there just isn't any.

No offense to anyone here, but some things I would like to point out.
As true as investing isn't for everyone, for me, it's something that really excites me and pushes me forward to learn more and more. If your just in the stocks to "get money" often times, you will end up losing money. I'm one of the few that believe "Stock Investing" should be a major course in universities and colleges, it is a very complex science. The internet has huge resources for learning, take your time slowly and study them.
The "get money" people sometimes may walk in the wrong path and started stock investing simply by introduction by friends, bankers, brokers on the promise that you assets will increase over time.
Personal advice, brokers are not there to help you make money. Brokers are cheerleaders in a match. Whether your team wins or loses, they are there to make you believe. Brokers make more money from their "advertising" firms (companies listed on the stock exchange), than from your mere commission. Guess who's interest they are in.
Also the price objective. Make your own. I dont care what the brokers say what stocks should be what price, that's their business. A simple math of taking the earnings per share and dividing it by the stock price. You either get 1-15%, set your own number as to what is expensive and what is cheap. BUY LOW, SELL HIGH. Emotional choices are wrong most of the time. Also you must have knowledge of technical investing regardless if your a fundamental investor. It allows you to see trends, either going up down or balanced. Once the down trend seems almost balanced, may be a good buy point, but some may wait for a slight positive indicator before buying.
Good luck!

I think that is good advice. I don't do anything unless I do my own research. Once you get into that mode not that hard to do. Win or lose it''s my money I enjoy this, so I don't let others decide.

Mascu, that is absolutely advice to perfection, could not have advised better myself, just like to add, play the same game as the bank as the dealer always wins and the brokers are the nearest we get to the bank, there is a clue in there if you think hard enough, brokers would not servive just on the small service charges,WOULD THEY ?There are more losers than winners at the casino,if not, there would not be one in the first place ""

I agree with what Mascu said except ""Stock Investing" should be a major course in universities and colleges, it is a very complex science."

No one can actually predict when the price goes up or down because the buyer and seller are human. I have just started my first BBA course this semester but I dont feel the need to "take course in University" to invest.

Many books offer investment knowledge, one of them is the "Little Book of Value Investing" or even other technical books out there.

Human's mind are clouded and it's impossible to know how Mr. Market will act. We can predict but it may not come true.

Enjoy your investment, and invest and feel happy about it. :) When you start feeling that investing is a burden, stop, and take a deep breath.. and start again.

Thanks Guys Jas is a playing for me 3400 shares, I'm looking for whopping 2 satang gain and I'm out. I look for value and dividends in ,my real investment.

True I fell the same way 10 to 20 satang and I'm out. Trying to get rich in stocks quickly, can get you rich a it can also get your poor.

I started my plan investing 20K a month. I will bring in excess of 30 K in dividends this month.

A good way to look at it is as a business plan.

How much can I afford to lose and not effect my life style. (20K)

How much is my goal in profits 20% per annum including dividends. That is possible and not getting rich over night.

Protect the money stop loss, can't get it automatically. Only takes few seconds to check your portfolio. A form of trailing stop put a sale point with portion of a stock that is growing, set a sale price in the morning before the market even opens. Bidding can be done the same way.

Jas a good example I know what I want 2 satang I'll set a sale at that level around 0800. It hits I'm out. I'm no day trader but, I am a trader. When I see a opportunity.

By the way that 20K is about 500K now. I'. still not going to change my plan I could sale on todays lows and still be making money.

simple approach keep putting profits back in and sooner or later you are working with their money not the money out of your pocket.

With the way things are going I may try Kim Engs approach sale 10 to 15% on the high. I won't tale the profits I will wait for the low and add to my existing position.

Those are just ideas you need to decide what meets your needs not mine.

My goal is to establish a retirement for my wife I got a good one now. So that gives me time to work towards that goal.

Look at the Dummy books they may be available at Asia books if not Amazon.com. Trust me it takes several readings even at that level. You might note I ask about charts on here cause there are guys here that understand much better then I.

I haven't seen a book yet that would match what we are going through in this past month. Now I watch volumes closely along with charts. Keep in mind I do my research first.

Most of what you need is right on the SET. I go further and search for news articles, but I got time.

I look for stocks that pay more then 5% in dividends and have a history of doing so.

I look for low debt ratios and good cash flows.

Man I'm writing a book here I don't want to anger anyone so I'm stopping.

I will leave this with two thoughts

Never put any money in stocks that you can't afford to lose.

Everyone has down days with up days. once you can accept that you can enjoy this adventure

Bid 24.50

X/date 9-23

It's falling will it have growth, that depends on the Palm Oll supply and demand.

Worth some research

No not really I passed on a lot stocks that were cheaper. Some didn't pay dividends other debt ratio were to high.

Normally Kim Eng will send a notice that you qualify for a dividend. That will be followed up by a hard copy delivered by mail.

If you think you have dividend coming two ways to check that.

Go to the SET site enter the stock symbol, look under rights and benefits, that will give you an x/date if you hold the stock on the x/date you may qualify for the dividend.

The other is to look at the stock calender there is bar at the top click on x/date. That will give you all stocks paying dividends in the month you check.

If you have qualified and you have not heard anything call your broker.

Rayfisher,
excellent posts, i enjoy reading them. We can be good buddies haha.

Mind if I ask how did you check the intra-day net buyers and net sellers? Right now, I always have to wait until 5:30pm or later to know who the net buyers or net sellers are.

Meow,
With dividends what you are looking for is percentage. Let's say a stock priced at 100 gives an annual dividend of 4. Simple math, 4/100 = 4% dividend per year. Imagine that stock price dropped to 80. The dividend of course will be unchanged at 4. 4/80 = 5% dividend. So we could have many people holding the same amount of stocks but the % dividend differs for each person depending on the stock price.

For clarification purposes of the XD date, Im sure most like me when first starting is so confused by this. If you do not want the dividend, SELL the day BEFORE the XD date. If you WANT the dividend, BUY BEFORE the XD date. By buying ON the XD date, it is too late. Some people sell before the XD date, for a couple of reasons. Dividend gained will be taxed at 10% AND the price of the stock usually drops equal to or lower than the dividend gained. For example a 100 price stock, getting ready to pay it's 4% annual dividend. On the day before the XD date, the stock price will have rallied to 104. On the XD date, the price will immediately drop to 99 or lower. Do the maths, choose how you would like to play the game.
The dividends are automatically transferred to your bank account that you have registered with your broker. Remember, during the application, you had to applied for e-dividend with TSD, that automatically delivers your dividend. You will also get a postal card from TSD stating your shares and dividend and subtracted tax. Each share comes separately.

And most brokers like mentioned have a stock calender that lets you see upcoming XD dates. Dividend hunters buy prior to 2 weeks for a low point, 80% you can expect 2-3 days rally before the XD date.

And please dont buy any stocks with dividends lower than 4%. It's not that the company isn't paying good dividends, it's that there are too many buyers over pricing the price of the actual stock.
Inflation is roughly 3-4% now, so mind you, you are wasting your time and money and making the stock exchange more expensive than it really is.

Happy Trading!

Your welcome I remember how it felt when you first start, it's just overwhelming.

Meow everything I did today came directly from the SET. You can get the dividend rate in the finance section after you search the stock symbol. More importantly you can see their dividend pay out record for five years.

Go to the set start pushing buttons check everything to see there and you will get the lay out quickly

There is an English version first thing change to English.

Tracking foreigners I use the Kim Eng site for that. It will give foreign most active. most value most deals. It's a running count so it's pretty easy to see if they are buying or selling.

What I will try to do now with that list is find those that might offer growth as well.

This part is only the screening process, there is more research to do.

Meow that SET site operates 24 7 so you can do that as you have time.

I don't know how to do cash flow yet I'm sure somewhere in the last 16 months I read it somewhere. But, I don't remember.

Yes that is true, Greece is the flavor of the week.
Bringing everything down. China has said they will buy Italy bonds. So that is out of the threats for a bit. Caused the U.S. market to go up. Why we have a uptrend today. Everything is connected.

Today foreigners are still net sellers the one stock that shows purchases is TTCL.

So picking the right one is key, pick the right one and you get a discount day. SET will recover to the levels you want when the foreigners begin buying again.

All the markets blindly follow the others. In this region as long as China is growing we will to.

But if your looking for day trades, maybe someone else can tell you about that. Not my cup of tea.

Most, me included are pretty much sitting this out. I'm down less then one percent. The dividends I get this month more then covers that.

I try to find those that through thick and thin hold ups. Then when we have this kind of thing going on. I don't get to excited.

I guess first thing you need to decide is what kind of a investor you are, how much risk are you willing take. Took some time to figure that out. I'm a trader but in value stocks and I try not to day trade it's fun. But so is gambling.

You day traders out there why not share with her a bit, so at least she, she can at least study the right course material. She really doesn't need to know what Buffet has to say.

I believe there is a dummy book for day traders available on Amazon.com.

The SET just completely bottomed now, almost -1% with 1030 acting as a resistance from what I can tell. If that one will be broken today or tomorrow it will free fall..:(

The best I can tell Meow the next resistance point may be 1000, after that 930 I believe. I didn't do those charts a professional did on CNBC, based on a question, I sent in.

If it keeps going I may sale bit I already have the dividends on and buy back cheaper. That guy Buffet he likes buying when everyone else is running.

In the meantime find the ones you like be ready to buy at discount prices.

That OK I get them mixed up all the time. I hit three stop losses and sold, that's what they are for. Now I have 150 K to buy back in with. When we find the bottom.

This is the time frame the E/U comes on line. So probably something from that region.

Would apprecciate any advice about that as it is of great importance to me to find out exactly what the foreigners are doing,The only clue i have right now ,is by checking the dollar baht exchange and that normally comes up with a result.tnx Jon

hold on for the the freefall which i am expecting, hope ime wrong but riding it out, which ever way it goes.
If goes too far down, then could take a long time to come back.Looked at the charts for Japan and 20 years ago it was 20,000,now around 8,000,dont want to scare you off but thats a fact with the other added fact that most markets have lost around 20 per cent this year and right here the SET is only around 5 per cent down,(if that)so considering that, beware and be careful and most of all, enjoy the gamble and remember ,you have only actually lost your money ,when you have sold less than you paid, ime holding on as a gambler through and through ;>)

To be honest I'm not real concerned about what we are seeing now. I exercised my stop losses cause that is a part of my plan.

It all revolves around Greece they will either B.K. or they won't. The French banks con into question about their loans to Greece best I understand.

If it does BK it won't destroy the E.U. Iceland BK and they are OK now. It happens.

I watched the U.S. futures they are like a yo yo based on statements coming out of the area. When they finally do what they are going to do, then uncertainty will stop that. Things will level off then we know where things really are. T Really no surprise in this it's all over TV.

I'm trying to stay away from export stocks right now. Thai Government is planning on putting a lot of money in the communities. It isn't out yet.

For example Advanc went up today.

Remember for every down side there is a buying opportunity as well. If everything I hold hit my stop loss level. I will sale and wait it out. Till buying opportunities came again.

The only place I know of that you can put your money with a guarantee is a bank and you won't even match inflation. Bonds may offer the something I don't know. The yields I see have not excited me enough to do the research

Here I would be more concerned about Politics going to the street.

I came into the market just as they stopped killing people in Bangkok. I experienced very fast growth. I don't look for that kind of growth now steady growth is what I'm hoping for.

Markets go up and down, that's why there is risk. But if you have stop losses and trailing stops good dividend stocks you can ride it out, till the good times come again.

I make mistakes but, I get right them wrong and I make money. I have put 20K in the market a month for 16 months. My portfolio is more then 500K I put 360 K in. so I have ways to go before I'm at a real loss. So now I wait for buys.

Dividends more then offset the losses of today.

I'm not a real stock person, so I just follow the rules and try to use common since.

I knew there was risk going in, I'm not going to let it scare me. As you can see I put basic research to work. I watch this blog closely. I'm thinking I should do a lot more watching and let the old hands guide us.

To answer your other question.

My broker is Kim Eng.

On there site mid way down on the left is a grey bar. Click on it.

You will see foreign active by:

Volume

Value

Deals

All in real time. For the past few days it hasn't been hard to read primarily red for selling.

The only buy I saw in it today was 100K shares of TTCL

When things get active again might be a lot harder to read.

I'm sorry I don't believe your broker can't do the same thing.

Foreign buyers are put in a different category then then Thai Invsetors

Hope that helps. Now it's time for me to shut up. Old timers are going get real tired of me real fast.

You can't listen and learn if your mouth is in high gear. I have a lot to learn

set: is in the 1 month downchannel with a support of 988 for today and 986 for tomorrow.
there would be a great rebound opportunity to play short term.

right now a bit of horizontal support but those do not work that well for the set. maybe only intraday or for today.

At Wednesday, September 14, 2011 2:48:00 PM , Blogger zorro said...

set is now rebounding from the horizontal support, if it closes about 1024 then there is a small chance that the long up channel is still intact and we could see a reound to the falling channel resistance.

but i have doubts, i guess the intraday rebound happened because the set was weaker than other markets and the dow futures rebounded a bit.

Don't think SET depends on local politics, see 2010: it was fighting on the street and Thai stocks been rallying.Foreign buying/selling is much more important IMHO. In last few days it was extremely oversold, i hope tomorrow the trend will finally change to few days up(wish)..:)

US BHT exchange (central bank intervention,i beleive) has changed direction since I posted last night and there is every chance now that we should at least open positive and hopefully follow on as the foreighners has you have quite correctly said, have oversold,so they may want to get their shopping trolleys out today but still could only be a tempory bounce as the more they have, the more they can push it back down again.
Polotics is only an excuse to take markets down but they usually go down first on the bad news and the smart people chip away at cheap stock and hope and wait for a good and quick rebound ->)

I think its gonna be lazy day, 1020 for support and 1030 for resistance.Buyers are cautious to buy anything and sellers had their chances on the free fall yesterday. Unless more bad news from EU will throw it further down.

I love how lively this blog had become!! Thanks to all who're posting here. :)

It's time like this where VI method comes on handy.

TWZ: The Chairman sold 60M more stocks on 8th Sep. He should have no more than 400M stocks at hand. (Down from 800M stock early this year.) TWZ price dropped from 0.39 early this year to 0.32 now. I'm truly negative about the stock. Avoid it at all cost.

SVI: The owner had bought more than 17M share ever since early this year. So far, he spent 57M Baht of personal money to purchase SVI stocks. Watch for how it's fundamental perform this year.

I'm very interested in BGH and TNH, though the former's price had risen from 40 baht to 66 baht. I'd like to keep an eye on TNH and see how it'll perform. :)

BTW why we need foreigners to buy on SET in order to move that market? Thai money is not enough?

At Friday, September 16, 2011 2:15:00 AM , Blogger zorro said...

The set doesn't need foreign money in the short run but foreign money pushes it into one direction in the long run.
i guess thai traders who are in the majority are mainly daytraders and gamblers. they go in and out. foreigners stay for a while.

brokers have their own agenda. never trust anyone.

for the set: it rebounded from the horizontal support. one could see that it followed the regional and europenan markets but it hesitated.
i guess this is because foreigner are still selling.

there are 2 options now: the rebound from the horizontal support at 1012 contiues and stalls at the 1060something resistance.

the other would be that the set doesn't break the 5 day avg at 1034 which needs a closing in the red tomorrow
let's see. it all depends on the news.

brokers's job is persuade you to buy and sell as more frequent as possible. The high frequency you buy or sell, the more commission they make.

At Friday, September 16, 2011 10:01:00 AM , Blogger rayfisher said...

In Kim Engs case they have never pushed me buy stock. I'm a little investor I fall below their radar. A friend who has serious money out there has been pushed. I don't deal with the marketing team when I have a question I go to the ananylist assigned to the company.

You still need to do your own research before you make that call.

From last night and this morning the happenings in Europe, Sounds like something similiar to Tarp with the Central Bank there I hope, Geitner is there as well. U.S. doesn't need to be loaning they need to pay off the deficit.

If the E.U. that it will have a short term effect as it did in America. The idea money in banks so they can loan for growth.

So far that has not helped in the States Banks, they have money. But, are no loaning after that and two Q.E.'s

One of the reasons I'm asking about gold, this is driving the price down. So if hit hits in the low 1700's would it be prudent to add portion to your portfolio?

Snakepit died long ago but I see some familiar names here.

This is my contribution. I trade several markets. SET is one of the best. Why? Because the market maker's cards are on the table. All his dirty tricks are staring you in the face. Carelessly executed orders are meat and drink. Close the door. Keep your eyes glued to the monitor. Study and learn. If you have at least half a brain, you are humble, fearful and brave then you WILL make money.

I trade every day. I have a very clear strategy. Over the last 292 trading days (since I initiated my strategy), I have made a profit on 265 of them and made a loss on 27 of them. The average daily loss is about half the size of the average daily profit. Average trades per day are about 40.

There are certainly others out there who have a better strategy than mine but I am very comfortable with my own. I have observed that my methods are unique. This has surprised me because I am certainly no genius. But then, since I spent 11 years making very little headway in this market, I suppose I could put that down partially to experience. But I would say it is more about care - and the other traits I have listed.

I will not reveal my methods. But I will say that it is possible to find a way to make money. Perhaps if you are well prepared and you follow some of my guidelines as well as finding a system that suits your individuality then you will trade profitably.

Perhaps you do already!

Good luck.

Ok a little catch up from the research I did on the Mai. The following ones are moving up.

Kiat
TNDT
TNH
SWC
HTECH

Gold for the life of me I just can't make up my mind.

It's at 26,250. that's a just bit lower then I sold at last time I might get excited around 25,000 On of those odd day dollar index is up as is the Gold Index. So they are headed fro safety I would think. I don't know if the dollar is going to win on that or Gold?

Remember do you own research I can be wrong.

I like Global for flood damage repair, in Issan it will be the prime supplier for repairs, if it ever stops flooding. New so not much of a dividend yet. Debt ratio is low.

It listed last year, but has been doing brisk business in Udon for the past nine years, It's real builders supply.

I'm going back to try to find one I can steal today

Good Luck to all

3 compannies are deffinates,Pnom Penh water ,cabodia telecoms (not sure if that name is correct ) and Sihanoukville port,One of the big casinos ,think its Naga world may also joiun them, the bnks etc, will follow later. The brokers are running around like headless chickens at the moment,as nobody seems to be getting any updates.Nobody can open accounts yet but ime going for the brokerage arm of the Canadia bank and will send you the correct name later today. They seem to be the most helpful of the 3 companies that i have spoke too and they make it easier than most banks to open an account,a bussiness visa is needed and i think a driving license, with the other banks, you need stamped official papers from your landlord etc etc.No capital controls as we stand right now and around 5 per cent annual interest on the u.s dollar, anything else you need, just ask.You can google it and get plenty of results, there ya go

Boy that looks like the wild wild west, seems to have ways to go before you can get in. Oil and Gas would be interesting. If they get an agreement with Thailand. That's probably a better possibility now.

Scratching the grey matter here, they have been finding oil already close to the shore?

Foreighners were selling a lot more than buying but at least the mkt went north but low volumes, pretty deppressing at the moment thats why ive given up monitering too much at the moment and switched the CNBC channel to HBO until the sun rises again >)so holding everything,by the way,SVI was a good call and when the dips came.

Ya to be honest I can see it but calling it I'm just not experienced enough. Amazing day for me everything I bought turned a profit. Nice start but I'm not expecting to continue.

On the other hand I spend a lot of time in research, more then I do buying. I didn't stick to my ground I bought one today with no dividend TASCO. With 294 rural roads in need of repair they are going to need asphalt and that is he only place you can get it.

I bought at 50 several months ago it was at 70, so I have my fingers crossed.

If the U.S. hold tomorrow we may have a good day. But, there are still dues to be paid

rayfisher, what do you mean by "i can't see it but calling it" when you refer to the foreign buying?

there should be 2 numbers (buy and sell) for each type of trader: intitution, proprietary, foreign and individual, same as in the trading summary on the set homepage www.set.or.th on the bottem right hand side.

the difference between the buy and sell is the net and if this is positive in the foreign row this means foreigner are buyers.

maybe you are looking at the trading volume of foreign shares instead?
a screenshot would be helpful.

what number is the 200 day mavg for the set index currently?
the techie from poems states today at lunch that the set has managed to close above so it should be lower than 1031.
according to the poems online chart it is around 1040.
the other averages in the set chart given by the techie seem to be wrong as well.
he is using metastock.

am i missing something? will send him a mail but don't want to look stupid, feedback is appreciated.

Brokers been talking about double bottom, SET hit 1010 just before it went up to the record high in August. Now again it bounced off 1010 yesterday and started to go up. This time it will be slow and painful trend up, without foreign support. But if technical is right, it should go up. We'll see.

ueda,as promised but a touch late again,I will be using CANA SECURITIES in Cambodia, which is the brokerage arm of the Canadia bank and like the stock market,is located in the Canadia tower a few floors up,the bank is on the ground floor.Phom Penh securities are also informative and know that there is going to be lots of Japanese ,Korean investment etc but,ime not choosing them as they are not geared up for direct debits from banks,at least for now,CANA is and i dont want to risk my hard earned money who is frsh to Cambodge but as Taiwanese, they certainly have the first jump on being more clued up than the locals.Sorry to bore anyone that doesnt want to know about this and will only clue you more,if requested, over and out for today, yawn yawn,no volumes again

I think this is what we have been anticipating:

Dollar is up, markets down and so is gold.

From Asia Plus

A little after 1200 hrs, the SET hit 1044, and then gained back some. The sale off at the moments is 63%.

Traditionally the SET goes down in the afternoon. But, who knows these days, the norms don't always happen.

I wish I had more money to buy with.

I still have not gotten my low bids

set: tomorrow would be a good opportunity to buy if it reaches 975 plusor minus a point or so. there lies the downchannel that started in august.
one can be in for a quick shot or stay longer for a rebound to 1030, the channel resistance.
all depends a bit on the news, i guess.
the set might stall earlier at 1012 plus/minus 2
will have to look for other indicators as well, such as the rsi.

Well good dividend stocks I only want to add to them, while the sale is going on. Got MCOT at 29.75 today

The bargain basement is open wish I had more to buy with. Asia Thailand include will ride this out much better the the other markets. My guess a time will come that the market is priced so foreigners will jump back in a serious way. Have to wait for the fear to settle down.

The only thing that went up today was the dollar, you know that will change

DOUBLE DIP a real possibility. I apologize for the length on this but I believe this is something we all need to be aware of.

I thought a good time to refresh my memory on recessions:

The thing to keep in mind the average time of a recession is 22 months from the time it's called officially. The least amount of time 8 Months, The longest since the after that we are talking eight years
. I will not put any money into anything that I''m not willing to hold six years. To me that spells Gold and good dividend stocks

I would refrain from jumping too early in the game if I were you. Think logically instead of your emotions. Personally, the best time of the stock market is now. It's not during a bull market, you dont need to be an expert to make money. Even a blind man who buys during a bull market makes money. We need to learn from the market and the past.
Simple question, what do you see the days ahead of you? More selling, so yes, even though now it is cheap, it will still get cheaper, so just wait. It's that simple, drop drop drop, then a period of "equilibrium".
I'm with rayfisher on the value stock investings. Now I get to buy stocks at huge discounts with attractive dividends and I'll be happily holding them for 10%+ dividends for years to come while this so called crash is occuring. Sure people are selling, dont be the 90% crowd, make your own research, get solid earning companies, keep making money. I'm kinda dissapointed with the society's goat/lamb behavior, we've been through this countless times, "yes tomorrow the end of the world will come, all companies will dissapear, we'll live like tribal men again". Get real.

afternoon rebound can be expected as the set again underperformed the region. some daytrading should be possible, but holding longer is is only advisable if you have a stop of 877

i don't think a green dow will save the day, or better save the week.
yesterday the dow was green and set crashed, even europe was up.

we could see an up on the set tomorrow as there is a high rebound chance after 3 steep falls and the rsi being oversold, but this could be a 1 day jump only.

look at bartons longterm chart and be prepared for the worst: set = 450.
the set just recently broke a good uptrend. there is a lot of downside possible.

I dont know, but from my 5 years investment experience, I was never (or hardly) able to guess lowest/highest price, so all I can do is accumulate a stock which I'm sure is a long-term stock to keep.

The Dividend is much better than a 3% fixed deposit. So if you think investing is a form of accumulation, talk about 401(k) plans.

Buy fear.

From Kim Eng today:

They don't expect the market slump to be short term.

So lets think about that a min. Did anyone tall you there would not be ups and downs. If the did they were lieing.

I've taken my 25% position in physical gold now.

That doesn't mean that I will not n buy stocks now. But I will only buy high paying dividends stock that I will hold long term.

If this lasts longer that means I will have more time to accumulate at great prices.

One thing I have learned in the past 16 months jump to the new kid on the block with magic growth, usually results in losing money.

We seem to be in a bear market time to get back to the basics of value investing

love your posts Ray,i always look for value stocks also but when i see an entrance to jump in ie Monday,i take the gamble just like i did when i sold some this morning when it was positive,as i gambled the market would go down today based solely on the exchange rates which are normally accurrate, best profit on today was DTAC, now I want it to go down to hell so i can at least skoop that one back at the bargain basement as it is a solid stock, look at SVI flying today, held tight on that one >)I am medium to long term when it comes to investing but a quick profit never hurts and act on my hunches,16 years been trading this market and hey its always been a wild west roller coaster.

better safe than sorry.
this applies especially for the stock market.
we saw the usual 1 day rebound and today is a down day again. asia keeps falling through the lunch break, set should follow.
from the candle sticks a green set would give a bullish formation.
doesn't look to come true.

yes, bull markets last longer but the bear market just started and will take at least a couple of month.
we will have to see some more evidence of a reversal before holding on stocks longer than a few days.
like the dow breaking out of th esideways pattern above 11700 or the set climbing above 1010.

if the market is up on hopes and going down on facts, stay with the bears.
